Interviewees needed for research on music in retirement by Making Music

We received the following via email from Making Music:

Take part in research on music in retirement

Would you, or anyone you know, have an hour spare to be interviewed?

Dr Jane Sturges is an academic at King’s College London who is looking for people to take part in a study she is conducting, which will explore how important music is to people in their retirement.

She is seeking to interview people who have a passion for music that they are fulfilling - through playing an instrument, singing or running a music group - after giving up paid work in a field other than music. A typical participant may have been involved in musical activities since childhood, or they could have discovered their passion for music later. Either way, music will now be an extremely important part of their life and, as such, central to their identity in retirement.

Participation would involve being interviewed by Jane, either at King’s College or a location to suit the participant, if that is more convenient. She is flexible about when she conducts the interviews – either in December or in the early part of 2019, if that timing suits better. The research is underwritten by King’s College London Ethics Committee, which means that all interviews are confidential and all data will be anonymised.

If you, or anyone you know would like to take part (or have any questions about the research), please contact Dr Jane Sturges directly at jane.sturges@kcl.ac.uk
