Hi, |
Dear Singers, We're writing with an update on our 2025 Choral Courses in gorgeous Cambridge chapels - we do hope you'll join us next year! Our courses are limited to 30-40 singers to reflect the chamber choir tradition of Cambridge, and places are already filling fast:
It's Back2School time, but we're still basking in the golden days of our Choral Summer School, which was such a joy! Some 40 strangers came together to sing for a week, and departed as part of a community of friends across the globe - it's lovely to read some of the key takeaways from the course: "There is not a more joyful thing on earth than people singing together""It's given me that boost of confidence that I need to take the next steps" "Legato is my friend" "Cambridge is an incredible place in which not only to sing with others but to learn with them as well" "New insight about how to sing this music better" "Lovely music, lovely venues and lovely people" "Great singing and great company" If you missed out on this year's sold-out Choral Summer School, why not get ahead for next year and apply now for our 2025 Summer School 27 July - 2 August? New courses! As we explore the possibilities for more courses, we'd love to know what times of year work best for you - please complete our poll here! Bear in mind we are working around the student vacations and individual college policies - it's a complex scheduling matrix! Read on for all the latest news on our upcoming choral courses... |

Epiphany Offer: £50 discount for tenors and basses
If you're thinking of joining us, why not whet your appetite with this short taster video, as Artistic Director Dr Edward Wickham introduces his repertoire selection? We're delighted to welcome Graham Walker, Director of Music at Emmanuel College, to direct our Sunday Evensong in St Catharine's College Chapel. As well as directing the choir at Emmanuel College, Graham was until recently Director of St John’s Voices and Musical Director of the New Cambridge Singers. He is also an award-winning cellist and conductor. Graham's first recording as a conductor, made when he was just 22, featured the music of Jean Mouton, the 16th-century Flemish composer, much of whose music was being recorded for the first time. This will be a cosy, candle-lit weekend to brighten the long January nights! With Compline and Evensongs in the historic chapels of Sidney Sussex, Peterhouse and St Catharine's Colleges and a sumptuous Twelfth Night Dinner, it'll be a kingly feast of repertoire for Epiphany - including wassailing! Book now to secure your place - you can also save £50 EACH* on your fee with our Bring a Friend offer! |

Spring Singing Retreat 28-30 March at Magdalene College We're looking forward to singing Compline by candle-light in the intimate and historic chapel at Magdalene College. Built in the 1470s, the Chapel was the place of worship for the Benedictine monks of the College’s earliest days. The Choir is at the heart of the College’s musical and spiritual life, singing two services a week under Precentor James Potter. The College chapel has an organ by Goetze and Gwynn, new in 2000, which has been acclaimed as one of the best neo-baroque organs in Cambridge. |

Organ Lessons Each of our courses is ably supported by one of our rockstar Organ Scholars - and they are always keen to share their passion and skills with enthusiastic participants. If you'd like to try a Cambridge college organ, whether you're a complete beginner with some basic keyboard skills or reasonably accomplished, just let us know in advance and we'll do out best to fit you in for a lesson. |
